words

(Chorus)
(words) can't express core feelings, true thoughts.
(words) don't describe depth, your vivid alive eyes.
(words) are weak abreast response from your touch.
(words) they never speak louder than two bodies as one.

to share my innermost everything
where do I find those damn words?
twisting conversations that say too much?
too fast and never quite enough?

(Chorus)
(words) can't express core feelings, true thoughts.
(words) don't describe depth, your vivid alive eyes.
(words) are weak abreast response from your touch.
(words) they never speak louder than two bodies as one.

let's trip over our vulnerabilities
and learn along the way
to do what we'll do best
and maybe without words.

(Chorus)
(words) can't express core feelings, true thoughts.
(words) don't describe depth, your vivid alive eyes.
(words) are weak abreast response from your touch.
(words) they never speak louder than two bodies as one.

(words) can't express core feelings, true thoughts.
(words) don't describe depth, your vivid alive eyes.
(words) are weak abreast response from your touch.
(words) they never speak louder than two bodies as one.

they can't sing brighter than two bodies as one.
they don't hush deeper than two bodies as one.
they're just little words.

REBOUND STATISTIC
In character from a male perspective

I was on the right path for a while
A monk in my own extreme trials
When you came a-knockin' wild on fire
I, I not seeing you're a you liar

(Chorus)
Why didn't you just leave me alone?
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)
Now a whole damn year's blown
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)
By your switch, you made me sick
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)
Now I'm a rebound statistic
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)

Did you even think of me when we f*cked?
Or was it pain of him that you ducked?
Really can't forget our secret baby, lady
Shhh, won't tell your new n last sugar maybe

(Chorus)
Why didn't you just leave me alone?
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)
Now a whole damn year's blown
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)
In your switch, you made me bleed
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)
And I'm another left reboundee
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)

I hope you're proud being the coward
Enjoy masking with your next lover
Your live-in-the-moment words so real
To conceive another bedroom deal
(Words so real, a bedroom deal, a new lost meal)

(Chorus)
Why didn't you just leave me alone?
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)
Now a whole damn year's blown
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)
With your switch, you dragged me under
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)
Just deal with your sh*t, rebounder
(On the rebound, rebound all around, you're on the rebound)

at this time

that night our comfort was shaken • my way to deal with things forsaken
just kiss them goodbye and bolt • but you and my love for us both
challenged me to stay true • there was a moment I knew
not to run this only once • I was willing to give it a chance

there was that moment I chose in hurt • to believe in us, sans dirt
there was that day I chose in angst • to stay strong or we'd tank
there was that week I chose to act • with gentle hope for our pact
it was at that time a choice to choose...

a while we hesitated, paralyzed • you thought a break would help us realize
a time apart to clear the doubts • solely face what we're about
there was courage to abide • it was our moment to surmise
to entrust I thought, 'Be patient' • define which path will be taken

there was that moment I chose in shock • to accept your deliberate knock
there was that day I chose your blame • embarrassed, us reframed
there was that week I chose in vain • to stay, stay, stay, remain
it was at that time a choice to choose...

in tremor, granting your wish • to sustain our bond as only this
the roller coaster days we shared • core avowed and never dared
ignoring your apathetic play • being the very moment of cruel sway
in this spin that had begun • discouraged I, losing my sun

there was that moment I chose to fight • perceptions wrong, they weren't right
there was that day I chose to anger • I shouldn't've been so loosely dangled
there was that week I chose to pay • give you back some blame delayed
it was at that time a choice to choose...

you imposed for more time • days alone, no reason or rhyme
to term the fate whenever you'd care • but respect for me soon blared
my heart's to depart, no more drain • in wait for your rule, I'd go insane
it was hard, more than you'd know • but I still left for my tomorrows

it's at this moment my choice to need • a steady return to dignity
it's on this day my choice to pack • alone repair your silent attack
it's now this week my choice to release • venture's reached a final peace
it's at this time my choice, you see • to let it be if only for me...

The Shelf

A worn book wrapped within delicate tissue
On the shelf, protectively.

It's marked, it's different than the others
On the shelf, visibly.

Constant tugging inside to retrieve it
From the shelf, ever so deeply.

Hold it, unwrap it, and trace the cover
With slow hands, silently.

The phone rings, someone's at the door
Baby's crying, work to be done!
Put it back on the shelf, quickly.

Pleasure and consumption must remain
On the shelf, undoubtedly.

And wait for the day it should come
Off the shelf, permanently.
